MEET MADISON LARABI, OUR SUCCESSFUL CONSOLE DESIGNER

We were pleased to interview Madison at the construction site this month. He is part of the before-decking team and excels in console manufacturing. This meeting allowed us to better understand his responsibilities and passions at Iguana Yachts. You couldn’t drive an Iguana without its console work, demonstrating our expertise in building these unique amphibious boats.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF

After completing two NVQs in carpentry and cabinetmaking, I pursued further education, obtaining an art diploma in cabinetmaking and a Higher Technician Diploma in woodworking and house construction systems. During my studies, I undertook a 3-month project, the objective of which was to design and create a piece of furniture. I discovered my affinity for drawing, both on paper and using computer software. Upon completing the project, I realized that my true passion lay in creating plans and drawings rather than in cabinetmaking.

Why drawing? It allowed me to conceptualize and plan various projects, from idea to realization. Bringing a drawing to life is incredibly rewarding. So I started my career as a structural designer in a design office, where I perfected my skills. I had several other experiences before arriving at Iguana.”

WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AT IGUANA YACHTS ?

“First of all, I came to know about Iguana Yachts through Fabrice Chirain, the leader of the decking team, who I have known for many years before I joined the company.. When he found out that I was looking for a new professional opportunity, he informed me that the company was hiring for the shipyard workshop. He explained the project and the company’s products to me, and I was thrilled at the prospect of working here. Consequently, I applied for a position and got the opportunity to work on the Iguana Project. The product is exceptional. It’s not every day that you see an amphibious boat rolling into the parking lot. I even brought my son, and he had his first experience at sea aboard an Iguana!”

Iguana enables me to grow and continuously learn in various areas. It’s very rewarding to know that our skills are appreciated, and our work can be seen on unique amphibious boats around the world.

Each new model presents a challenge, and over the years, I have been involved in the development of several models, including the Iguana Sport, the Iguana Fisher, and the Iguana Bow Rider.”

In addition, caterpillars are a great idea! When you see what you can do with an iguana, whether it’s sand, rocks or in the water... The boat is very mobile.

WHAT ARE YOUR MISSIONS AT IGUANA?

My specialty is manufacturing consoles. When the console is received, it is raw without holes. I take care of trimming, cutting out the outline of the elements which will be linked together, and installing the screens, joysticks, buttons… This is how I install all the controls, and I love what I do.

I also work on tasks before decking the boat. Indeed, we each have a specialty, while remaining versatile. We know how to do each other’s jobs when we’re not there.”

“I love working at Iguana because I enjoy creating various products across different areas such as hydraulic, composite, and electrical. I value versatility and being able to work in diverse areas. The team is fantastic, the atmosphere is motivating, and I’ve been with them for 3 years!

It’s a demanding job. At each stage, if we neglect a point, it will create malfunctions in the end. Plus the versatility of the job, I love what I do!
