Categories Non classéCOME ONBOARD WITH QUENTIN TREGUIER, ONE OF OUR ENGINEER Post author By Sasha Rouxel Post date 30 October 2024 This month, we had the pleasure of interviewing Quentin at the shipyard. With a lifelong fascination for mechanics, electronics, and informatics—sparked in part by his admiration for Tony Stark (Iron Man)—he has become an expert in mechatronics. He shared the depth of his work at Iguana Yachts with humor and passion.Read the following interview to learn more about his job.TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF “Since I was a kid, I have always tried my best to build things, from electronics to mechanics. I used to take apart my computers just to see how they worked. I know it is a bit geeky, but my career choice is inspired by Tony Stark (Iron Man). I love using technology and mechanics to create new things. I entered the field of engineering through my degree in Science and Technology of Sustainable Development and Industry in 2017. Working with materials suits me much better than theory, which is why I pursued a technical degree. After that, I completed a 2-year preparatory class at a top engineering and technology school. My goal was to specialize in mechatronics, which combines mechanics, electronics, and computing, like Tony Stark. Without a specific school in mind, I chose the School of Mechatronics in Caen, where I fell in love with the city. It is a lively, human-sized city, and the quality of life is great here. During my studies, I interned in the automotive sector at Flers. Later in Toulouse, I developed sensors for the Safran Group and Airbus.”“I then took the opportunity to work at Iguana, a company that aligns with my passion for boats, a passion sparked by my grandfather, who worked in shipbuilding. He even worked on constructing the liner Le France at the Atlantic shipyard.”WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AT IGUANA YACHTS?“What I love about working at Iguana is the visibility of the entire process, from theory to the integration of each feature. There is particular satisfaction in assessing the feasibility of an option and witnessing its evolution once integrated into the amphibious boat. This process is both rewarding and challenging, as it requires finding the most efficient way to integrate each option. The constant pursuit of perfection keeps me motivated.” “A strong general understanding among the team is motivating, and I appreciate it. I also enjoy having my office centrally located within the shipyard, allowing me to see the boats as they move around the site—a connection I couldn’t experience from an enclosed office, distanced from both the product and production environment. Working for a large company does not appeal to me either, as I would likely work on a small part without seeing how it fits into the final product, which loses the tangible connection. Here, when I implement something, I can see it directly in future boats.” I am truly driven by innovation, which is why I am at Iguana. There is no other company with a comparable product.WHAT IS YOUR MISSIONS?“I work with the design and production office, focusing on production issues and continuously helping to improve techniques. I am the go-to person when someone needs help resolving a technical problem. I’m also responsible for integrating customer-specific options, including large screens, hybrid systems, stabilizers, and more. The hybrid system has been the largest project I have worked on so far, requiring significant planning and careful integration due to its impact on other features.” “I am also developing the customization side, especially in terms of option integration. I often lead small teams that work on options I’ve designed. It is very rewarding to collaborate directly with these teams and see them bring my work to life. Additionally, I manage the creation of methodology guides, which provide precise measurements and help production teams work with greater independence.”“I am also dedicated to optimization and cost reduction, continually exploring ways to integrate innovative technology into our operations. Each day brings new challenges, and it’s highly rewarding to develop and implement new options and processes.”IGUANA BOAT, AN INNOVATIVE PRODUCT“The product is remarkable—these machines are not only beautiful but also genuinely cutting-edge. We’ve successfully integrated a wide range of advanced technologies into a single vessel. If I could, I’d love to own an Iguana myself. On my first visit, I was truly impressed; seeing the extent of technology embedded in each model was astounding. The Bow Rider model is stunning and my favorite. Watching the transition seamlessly on land is amazing, showcasing an impressive level of technological innovation.” ANNECDOTE“We had a sea trial, but we did not have a windshield. It was my first time piloting an Iguana, and unfortunately, it started raining. With the speed and the rain, it felt like we were in a hailstorm! We came back soaked, but we had a great and funny time with the team.” I always advise doing what we are passionate about. It has been a huge source of motivation for me. Since work makes up about 70% of our lives, we should enjoy it! Every morning, I get up happy to head to work with a coffee in hand.

Categories Non classéON SET WITH MAUGAN NION, AN AMPHIBIOUS BOAT BECAME A STAR IN LA MAISON SERIES Post author By Sasha Rouxel Post date 27 September 2024 This month, we had the pleasure of interviewing Maugan at the shipyard, where he works as part of the after-sales service team. The conversation provided valuable insights into his role and passions at Iguana Yachts. From technician to actor, you will also learn about his role in the new Apple TV series La Maison, featuring an Iguana boat.TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF “I began with a CAP in the maintenance and repairs of pleasure boats, followed by a professional baccalaureate in nautical maintenance at the Nautical Institute of Brittany. Ever since I was a child, I knew what I wanted to do: repair boats. As soon as I finished secondary school, I attended a maritime high school to complete my CAP and baccalaureate over 3 years in a work-study program. My schedule alternated between 2 weeks at school and 2 weeks at work. I worked in Dive-sur-Mer at a boat repair yard. This passion was passed down to me by my father, who has always owned a boat. We have been fishing together since I was 7 years old. That is how my love for pleasure and motorboats was born. Then, I discovered Iguana Yachts. The product is innovative and exceptional, so I wanted to be part of the Iguana adventure.”WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AT IGUANA YACHTS ?“I joined Iguana as a member of the production team. It was the job offer that introduced me to amphibious boats and the company. I was almost shocked to learn this kind of technology existed, especially in Normandy. I contributed to the production of 35 boats and became a technical manager in charge of before-decking. 3 years ago, I transitioned in the after-sales service, which resembled my first job, focusing on boat repairs and mechanics.” “This position aligned more with the skills I gained during my studies. Additionally, traveling abroad for the company was a new experience for me, as I had never taken business trips on such a scale. It contributed significantly to my personal development, particularly through learning English.” It feels surreal to be at Iguana today, as I believe amphibious boats are the future of boating. Owning an amphibious boat is a major advantage because it eliminates many of the limitations of traditional boats. The amphibious technology offers so much, and I am very grateful to have discovered this world through Iguana Yachts.A DAY AS AN AFTER-SALES AGENT “There is no typical day, which is what makes after-sales service so unique. A workday is often based on emergencies. While we try to organize our days as much as possible, they are disrupted by the unexpected. Our priority is always to be available for customers, especially since we may need to travel to the ends of the earth at any moment. Additionally, we provide annual maintenance, often traveling to the customer’s location or a shipyard abroad to perform the service.”“I love the versatility this job offers. Over time, I have acquired a broad and specialized skill set, which is one of the aspects I enjoy most about working in the after-sales service. Being able to handle a variety of tasks is essential, especially when we’re at a customer’s site. We can not bring the entire Iguana team, so we must be capable of doing everything ourselves.” For me, amphibious boats are the dream vessel for all pleasure sailors. They simplify navigation by overcoming tidal constraints, launching, towing, and the cost and space limitations in ports. Additionally, you can sail further and explore previously inaccessible areas.BEHIND THE SCENES, AMPHIBIOUS ADVENTURES IN LA MAISON“For the record, a film production team contacted us to rent an Iguana for 1 week of filming, to feature the boat in the Apple TV series La Maison. I was asked to be present as technical support in case of any issues with the yacht during the shoot. But, because the captiane was not confident about piloting the boat in such a rocky area, I took his role.Fun fact, the day before filming, I started receiving calls from the hairdresser and makeup artist. As a technician, I was really confused about why I needed makeup .I filmed with Lambert Wilson & Carole Bouquet, and we repeated the same scene several times. On set, I thought it was a simple project. But in reality, there were years of work and a significant investment. For example, 1 scene required more than 1.5 hours of filming with multiple takes and camera angles. The amount of work is huge!” “ After a week of filming, I think you’ll see me on screen for about 30 seconds in the series! It’s a massive amount of work for a spectacular result. It was a busy week, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience a new environment. I hope the footage I was part of looks great and that you will enjoy it. Be sure to look for the Iguana!”Interested in joining the team? Check out our latest positions. JOIN THE TEAM

Categories Non classéMEET MADISON LARABI, OUR SUCCESSFUL CONSOLE DESIGNER Post author By Sasha Rouxel Post date 3 September 2024 We were pleased to interview Madison at the construction site this month. He is part of the before-decking team and excels in console manufacturing. This meeting allowed us to better understand his responsibilities and passions at Iguana Yachts. You couldn’t drive an Iguana without its console work, demonstrating our expertise in building these unique amphibious boats.TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF “After completing two NVQs in carpentry and cabinetmaking, I pursued further education, obtaining an art diploma in cabinetmaking and a Higher Technician Diploma in woodworking and house construction systems. During my studies, I undertook a 3-month project, the objective of which was to design and create a piece of furniture. I discovered my affinity for drawing, both on paper and using computer software. Upon completing the project, I realized that my true passion lay in creating plans and drawings rather than in cabinetmaking. Why drawing? It allowed me to conceptualize and plan various projects, from idea to realization. Bringing a drawing to life is incredibly rewarding. So I started my career as a structural designer in a design office, where I perfected my skills. I had several other experiences before arriving at Iguana.”WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AT IGUANA YACHTS ?“First of all, I came to know about Iguana Yachts through Fabrice Chirain, the leader of the decking team, who I have known for many years before I joined the company.. When he found out that I was looking for a new professional opportunity, he informed me that the company was hiring for the shipyard workshop. He explained the project and the company’s products to me, and I was thrilled at the prospect of working here. Consequently, I applied for a position and got the opportunity to work on the Iguana Project. The product is exceptional. It’s not every day that you see an amphibious boat rolling into the parking lot. I even brought my son, and he had his first experience at sea aboard an Iguana!”“Iguana enables me to grow and continuously learn in various areas. It’s very rewarding to know that our skills are appreciated, and our work can be seen on unique amphibious boats around the world. Each new model presents a challenge, and over the years, I have been involved in the development of several models, including the Iguana Sport, the Iguana Fisher, and the Iguana Bow Rider.” In addition, caterpillars are a great idea! When you see what you can do with an iguana, whether it’s sand, rocks or in the water... The boat is very mobile.WHAT ARE YOUR MISSIONS AT IGUANA? “My specialty is manufacturing consoles. When the console is received, it is raw without holes. I take care of trimming, cutting out the outline of the elements which will be linked together, and installing the screens, joysticks, buttons… This is how I install all the controls, and I love what I do.I also work on tasks before decking the boat. Indeed, we each have a specialty, while remaining versatile. We know how to do each other’s jobs when we’re not there.”“I love working at Iguana because I enjoy creating various products across different areas such as hydraulic, composite, and electrical. I value versatility and being able to work in diverse areas. The team is fantastic, the atmosphere is motivating, and I’ve been with them for 3 years!“ It’s a demanding job. At each stage, if we neglect a point, it will create malfunctions in the end. Plus the versatility of the job, I love what I do!Interested in joining the team? Check out our latest positions.
